Banner Cloud Data Services Update coming 1/31/2021

Improved SMS Messaging and Increased Data Limits

Banner Cloud Data Services will be transitioning to a new messaging platform that will provide more reliability and allow additional carrier support for those users who wish to be notified of alerts via SMS messaging. We are also increasing the hourly data limits for the subscription service plans.

Current users will notice that upon selecting a Contact Type only two selections are available, Email or SMS. After selecting SMS, simply enter the mobile phone number for any carrier.

Users will also notice that the SMS message alerts delivered to their mobile phones will come from a generic number, not dissimilar to how package delivery statuses arrive today.

With this new platform Banner will continue to improve upon the content we are able to provide in our alert messages. The native messaging platform has a limitation on the amount of SMS per day in accordance with your plan.  Therefore, the 24-hour SMS allowance and new hourly data limits for each subscription plan are as follows:

Starter Subscription Plan
List Price: $300 annually
1000 Data Points per Hour
20 SMS Messages per 24-hrs
Storage Period: 365 Days

Standard Subscription Plan
List Price: $1200 annually
5000 Data Points per Hour
100 SMS Messages per 24-hrs
Storage Period: 365 Days

Premium Subscription Plan
List Price: $3000 annually
15000 Data Points per Hour
250 SMS Messages per 24-hrs
Storage Period: 365 Days

There will be a new column on the Settings>Companies page entitled ‘SMS Last 24hrs’ that will assist users in determining their SMS usage. If the SMS limit is exceeded, the messaging service will be suspended, and new messages will not be sent. New messages will resume sending when the account has fallen below the 24-hour limit. Additional SMS allowance may be purchased by contacting support.

We are confident the change to our new service will better serve the needs of your business and will allow your organization to further benefit from condition monitoring and preventative maintenance initiatives using Banner products.

Major Release Update coming 12/15/2020

! Alert Management Update !

In an effort to continually enhance our software as a response to the evolution of Industry 4.0 practices we have restructured the way our users will manage their alarms and notifications.

The basic principle is that a user will now create individual Alarms and then bundle those alarms as an Asset creating a digital twin of the critical machine or process. The user is then alerted per Asset and not by each individual alarm. This provides indication of an overall asset health status. Assets can be gathered into Groups to form a virtual representation of the customer organization. Finally, notifications can be attributed by subscribing Contacts to these Asset groups.

For current Users, please review your accounts and the associated alarms to ensure that the transition did not eliminate critical notifications. We suggest reviewing the Asset, Group, and Contact sections to modify the defaults according to your operational needs. Please visit the Alert Management section for more detail.

We are confident this new framework for Alert management better serves the needs of your business and allows your organization to further benefit from condition monitoring and preventative maintenance initiatives using Banner products.
